Baseball Ties Pace 3-3

Pleasantville, NY - The Concordia College baseball team battled the Pace University Setters to a 3-3 tie in 11 innings yesterday afternoon in Pleasantville, NY.

The Clippers put up two runs in the 1st inning on a pair of RBI singles by sophomores Joe Vaskas (Bethpage, NY) and Billy O'Connell (Dobbs Ferry, NY).

The Setters tied the score in the 2nd inning on a 1-out double to left center field by Jimmy Frost with runners on the corners.

In the 3rd inning, the Clippers would forge ahead 3-2 when junior Difre Reyes (Manhattan, NY) doubled down the right field line, scoring Vaskas from second base. Pace would tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the inning as Joe Cotone hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Christopher Spatkowski from third base.

Neither team could push a run across the plate, as each team managed 7 hits in the remaining 8 innings of play.

Junior Tommy Paradise (Mahopac, NY) pitched 3 innings for the Clippers, giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs. Freshman Patrick Schreck (East Meadow, NY) pitched the 11th inning for Concordia. After striking out the first two batters, Schreck allowed a single to right center field before getting Spatkowski to pop up for the final out of the game.

The Clippers are now 4-10-1 on the season, while the Setters move to 3-4-1 overall.

The Clippers will open up East Coast Conference action on Saturday, March 14th as they travel to Flushing, NY to face the Knights of Queens College in doubleheader action. Game 1 begins at 12:00 PM.
