Concordia Splits Pair Against Dowling
Bronxville, NY - The Concordia College baseball team split a pair of ECC games with the Golden Lions of Dowling College today at Clipper Baseball Field in Bronxville, NY. The Clippers took the opening game 8-3 before falling in game 2 by a score of 9-3. The Clippers record now stands at 12-26 overall and 7-15 in the East Coast Conference. The Golden Lions move to 22-16 overall and 12-10 in the East Coast Conference.
Game 1
Senior Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY) went 3-4 with 3 RBI. Freshman Mike Sciacchitano (Wappinger, NY) also collected 3 hits with an RBI and scored a run. Senior Tom Bordanaro (Wappingers Falls, NY) and sophomore Greg Conway (Floral Park, NY) each had 2 hits and an RBI.
Brian Ferguson had 2 hits for Dowling College. Kevin Reese, Matthew Monastero and Frank Intagliata each finished with a hit and an RBI.
Sophomore Tommy Paradise (Mahopac, NY) pitched a complete game for Concordia, scattering 8 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. Paradise improves to 1-5 on the season.Brent Lotito picked-up the loss for the Golden Lions, lasting 6 innings and giving up 10 hits and 4 earned runs.
Game 2
Sophomore T.J. Walsh (Eastchester, NY) went 4-4 and scored a run. Bordanaro finished with 2 hits and 2 RBI, while also scoring a run for the Clippers. Sophomore Donnie Roth (Congers, NY) added a hit and an RBI.
For the Golden Lions, David Wendt hit 2 home runs and finished with 4 RBI and scored 4 runs. Kevin Korte also hit a home run, a 3-run shot in the 2nd inning.
Senior Zach Staniewicz (Verplanck, NY) lasted 3 innings for the Clippers, allowing 6 hits and 6 earned runs in the loss. Staniewicz falls to 4-5 on the year. Chris Piotrowski pitched 6 innings for Dowling College, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs in the win.
The Clippers will travel to Oakdale,
NY on Sunday, April 27th to face the Golden Lions in the 3rd game
of the series. The game will begin at 1:00 PM.
