Baseball Falls to STAC 7-1
Orangeburg, NY - The Concordia College baseball team was defeated by the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College 7-1 yesterday at The Vet in Orangeburg, NY. The Clippers fall to 7-23 overall and 3-13 in the East Coast Conference.
Junior Matt Shelly (Floral Park, NY) collected 2 of the 4 hits for the Clippers. Senior Tom Bordanaro (Wappingers Falls, NY) and sophomore T.J. Walsh (Eastchester, NY) also finished with a hit apiece. Freshman Kenny Espinal (Bronx, NY) scored the lone run for Concordia.
Junior Jose Aquino (Bronx, NY) pitched 5 innings for the Clippers, allowing 11 hits and 5 earned runs. Aquino also struck out 3 hitters. Aquino falls to 1-4 on the season.
For St. Thomas Aquinas, John Mazzello had 2 hits, 2 RBI and drove in 2 runs. Pat Murray and Dan McDermott each finished with 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Joe Giustino had an RBI and 2 hits for the Spartans. Anthony Russo threw 8 innings on the mound for the Spartans, giving up just 3 hits and 1 earned run. St. Thomas Aquinas improves to 17-17 overall and 8-7 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will continue action on Thursday, April 17th, as
they host Briarcliffe College in a non-conference match-up. The
game will begin at 4:00 PM.
