Pioneers Take Finale 2-0
Brookville, NY - The Concordia College baseball team was defeated by the Pioneers of C.W. Post 2-0 yesterday in final game of the series in Brookville, NY. Concordia falls to 7-22 overall and 3-12 in the East Coast Conference. C.W. Post improves to 16-17 overall and 9-6 in the East Coast Conference.
The Pioneers scored both runs in the 2nd inning. Tim Sylvester singled to right field to drive in the runner on third base to put the Pioneers up 1-0. The next batter, Mike Sylvester grounded out to the pitcher, again, scoring the runner on third base to double the lead to 2-0.
The Clippers had a chance to score in the 5th inning, as freshman Kenny Espinal (Bronx, NY) hit a 2-out single up the middle. Sophomore David Reider (Yonkers, NY) singled to right center field to advance Espinal to third base. However, the next batter grounded out to the pitcher to end the Clipper scoring threat.
Sophomore Tommy Paradise (Mahopac, NY) pitched 8 innings for Concordia, giving up 7 hits and no earned runs. Paradise drops to 0-4 on the season. Bobby Kay pitched a 4-hit shutout for the Pioneers with 10 strikeouts to improve to 4-1 on the season.
Concordia will take on the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas
College in ECC action on Tuesday, April 15th. The game will begin
at 3:30 PM.
