Baseball Picks-Up ECC Win Over Knights 8-2
Flushing, NY - Junior Jose Aquino (Bronx, NY) pitched a complete-game for Concordia, allowing 8 hits, 2 earned runs and a season high 9 strikeouts in the Clippers 8-2 win over the Knights of Queens College yesterday at Knights Field in Flushing, NY. Aquino collects his first win of the season and moves to 1-3 overall.
Senior Tom Bordanaro (Wappingers Falls, NY) finished with 2 RBI and a hit for the Clippers. Junior Matt Shelly (Floral Park, NY) also had 2 RBI and 2 hits. Senior Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY), sophomore Greg Conway (Floral Park, NY) and freshman Joe Vaskas (Bethpage, NY) all had 2 hits apiece for Concordia, who finished with 14 hits in the game.
For the Knights, Thomas Pento had 2 hits and an RBI. Denny Gonzales drove in the other run for the Knights and also finished with a hit and scored a run. Mike Sporton and Ed Hackimer each collected 2 hits.
With the win, the Clippers improve to 5-14 overall and 2-5 in the East Coast Conference. The Knights fall to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will travel to West Haven, CT on Tuesday, April 1st to take on the Chargers of the University of New Haven. The action gets underway at 3:30 PM.
