Clippers Drop Finale to Adelphi 10-2
Garden City, NY - The Concordia College baseball team lost the final game of a 3-game series to the Panthers of Adelphi University by a score of 10-2 yesterday at Bonomo Stadium in Garden City, NY. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Clipper Baseball Field, but due to poor field conditions, was moved to Adelphi University. The Clippers fall to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in the East Coast Conference. Adelphi improves to 9-9 overall and 3-0 in the East Coast Conference.
Freshman Joe Vaskas (Bethpage, NY) collected 2 hits and drove in both Clipper runs. Senior Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY) also finished with 2 hits and scored a run. Sophomore Greg Conway (Floral Park, NY) scored the other run for the Clippers. Both runs were scored in the 9th inning, as Concordia tried to mount a comeback trailing 10-0. Junior Jose Aquino (Bronx, NY) picked-up the loss for Concordia, lasting just 2.2 innings and giving up 4 hits and 4 earned runs.
For Adelphi, Mike Connors had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Chris Weidlein also had 2 RBI and a hit. Ryan Boelsen scored 3 runs for the Panthers and Robert Paccione scored 2 runs. Keith Couch pitched 8 shutout innings for Adelphi, giving up only 5 hits and striking out 8 batters.
The Clippers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 26th, as
they travel to West Haven, CT to face the University of New Haven
Chargers in an East Coast Conference match-up. The game will start
at 3:30 PM.
