Hickey and Gagliardi Earn All-Conference Honors

Bronxville, NY - Senior right fielder Kevin Hickey (New Fairfield, CT) and senior second baseman Michael Gagliardi (Cortlandt Manor, NY) were named to the ECC Baseball All-Conference first and second teams, respectively, as announced by the East Coast Conference office today.

Hickey is currently batting .367 on the season and leads the Clippers in RBI (50) and home runs (15). He has 55 hits on the year, including 19 doubles and 1 triple and has a slugging percentage of .807.  The senior has also stole 6 bases this season on 7 attempts.

Gagliardi leads the Clippers with a .400 batting average. He has is second on the team in RBI (49) and home runs (13). Gagliardi also leads Concordia with 11 steals in 16 attempts. The senior has a slugging percentage of .706. Gagliardi has a team high 68 hits on the season and has scored 48 runs for the Clippers.

The Clippers finished the 2007 regular season with an overall record of 20-22. In conference play, Concordia went 14-13 and qualified for a berth in the East Coast Conference baseball playoffs, which begin on Wednesday, May 9th. The Clippers will be the 6th seed and will travel out to the 3rd seeded Pioneers of C.W. Post for a 3:00 PM showdown. The winner advances to take on the 2nd seeded Bridgeport Purple Knights on Friday, May 11th. In other first round action on Wednesday, the 4th seeded Golden Lions of Dowling College will host the 5th seeded University of New Haven Chargers at 3:00 PM. That winner will play the top seeded Adelphi University Panthers on Friday, May 11. Friday's action, as well as the remainder of the ECC Baseball Tournament, will be hosted by Dowling College and will be double elimination format.
