Gagliardi's Home Run Lifts Concordia Past Queens 2-0

Bronxville, NY - Senior Michael Gagliardi (Cortlandt Manor, NY) hit a solo home run in the first inning to help the Clippers defeat the Knights of Queens College 2-0 today at Clipper Baseball Field in Bronxville, NY. Gagliardi leads Concordia with 11 home runs this season.

 

 

The Clippers would add a run in the 5th inning as freshman Donnie Roth (Congers, NY) led off with a single and advanced to third on a single by senior Kevin Hickey (New Fairfield, CT). Two batters later, Tom Bordanaro (Wappingers Falls, NY) hit a RBI sacrifice fly to left field to drive in Roth. That put the Clippers ahead 2-0. Sophomore Tommy Paradise (Mahopac, NY) pitched a complete game for Concordia, giving up just 3 hits and striking out a season high 6 Knights in picking up his first win of the season.

With the victory, Concordia improves to 16-21 overall and 11-12 in the East Coast Conference. Queens College falls to 5-26 overall and 3-20 in the East Coast Conference.

Concordia will step out of East Coast Conference action on Wednesday, May 2nd, as they host the Rams of Philadelphia University. It will be a single game and will begin at 3:30 PM.
