Pioneers Take Two of Three from Clippers
Bronxville, NY - The Pioneers of C.W. Post University took two out of three games from the Clippers this weekend, taking the finale 10-5 today at Clipper Baseball Field in Bronxville, NY. On Saturday, the Clippers opened the series with a 7-4 win in the first game of a doubleheader in Brookville, NY. The Pioneers rebounded with a 9-4 victory in game two.
Junior Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY) hit a home run in each of the first two games and finished 4-8 with 3 RBI. Senior Michael Gagliardi (Cortlandt Manor, NY) batted 7-14 in the 3 games, with a two run home run to left field in the second game on Saturday. Gagliardi finished with 4 RBI in the 3 games. Senior Samuel Golubov (Cortlandt Manor, NY) hit his first home run of the season, a lead-off solo homer in the 3rd inning today. Freshman Donnie Roth (Congers, NY) had 5 hits over the weekend with 2 RBI and Jason Lewandowski (Nesconset, NY) finished with 4 hits.
Giuseppe Granitto (Bronx, NY) claimed victory in game one on Saturday, improving his record to 4-2 on the season. Seniors Michael Quick (Port Jervis, NY) and Josh Likens (Owensboro, KY) each took the loss in the following games and both fall to 4-3 on the season.
The Clippers record stands at 15-21 overall and 10-12 in the East Coast Conference. C.W. Post improves to 24-15 overall and 15-8 in the East Coast Conference.
Concordia will be back on the field on Tuesday, May 1st, as they
host Knights of Queens College at 3:30 PM. The Clippers defeated
the Knights 5-4 back on April 25 in Flushing, NY.
