Purple Knights Sweep Clippers
Bridgeport, CT - The University of Bridgeport Purple Knights swept the visiting Concordia College Clippers 4-2 and 5-3 yesterday at Bluefish Stadium in Bridgeport, CT.
In game one, senior Michael Gagliardi (Cortlandt Manor, NY) picked up 2 hits with a RBI and scored a run. Senior Kevin Hickey (New Fairfield, CT) also had a hit and a RBI for Concordia. Junior Giuseppe Granitto (Bronx, NY) pitched 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 6 batters. Granitto picks up the loss and moves to 1-1 on the season.
In the second game, junior Tom Bordanaro (Wappingers Falls, NY) finished with a hit and 2 RBI and Peter Dempsey (Brewster, NY) collected 3 hits, an RBI and scored a run for the Clippers. Senior Michael Quick (Port Jervis, NY) gave up 10 hits and 5 runs in 6 innings pitched. Quick also struck out 4 batters in the loss and evens his record at 1-1.
Concordia falls to 4-8 overall on the season and 0-2 in the East Coast Conference. The University of Bridgeport improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the East Coast Conference.
The Clippers will resume action on Wednesday, March 28th, as
they travel to Oakdale, NY to face the Golden Lions of Dowling
College. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
