Clippers Place in Top Half of Directors' Cup

Learfield Sports Directors' Cup - Final Division II Standings

Bronxville, NY - Concordia College athletic teams placed in the top half of all Division II institutions across the country in the 2008-2009 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The winning institutions in each NCAA Division will take home the trophy in the 44th annual National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Convention on Saturday, June 20th in Orlando, FL.

What began as a joint initiative between USA Today and NACDA in 1993 has grown into a highly recognized mark of distinction among collegiate institutions through a point system that awards a respective institution points based on its national finish in an NCAA or NAIA championship. Four all-sports champions receive the top honor each year in the NCAA Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA.  The winner in each division receives a Directors' Cup crystal trophy.

The Clippers finished with a rank of No. 125 out of a total of 282 NCAA Division II schools, 2nd amongst Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members (Philadelphia University received 180 points). Concordia finished with a total of 156 points. The men's tennis team earned 83 points with their NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Semi-Final appearance and the women's tennis team received 73 points with their NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Quarter-Final appearance.
