Several Clippers Earn Conference Academic Honors
Central Islip, NY - The East Coast Conference announced 2008 ECC Fall Scholar Athlete of the Year Honorees and the 2008 ECC Fall Scholar Athlete Honor Roll last week and five Concordia College student-athletes made the list.
Topping the list is junior Cristina Oliveira (Porto Allegre, Brazil) from the women's tennis team, who was named the Women's tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year. Named the ECC Women's Tennis Player of the Year in October, Oliveira helped guide Concordia to ECC regular season and tournament championships. She is ranked second in the region in singles play and third in doubles after an undefeated fall season (10-0 singles, 11-0 doubles). Oliveira is majoring in business administration and computer information systems and holds a 3.38 grade point average.
Also receiving ECC Honor Roll accolades in their respective sports are senior Stefan Dimitrov (Bulgaria) from the men's soccer team, junior Rachel Woodland (Woking, England) from the women's soccer team, junior Emily Ringelberg (Pinetop, AZ) from the women's cross country team and sophomore Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) from the volleyball team.
