2011 Concordia College Men's Soccer Season Wrap-up
Bronxville, NY– The men's soccer team at Concordia finished the season with a 3-14 record with many games played on the road because of the unplayable field conditions at Holtdorf Soccer Field during the season. All three of their victories came against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents as the Clippers held a 3-8 record in conference play.
Concordia began the season with three straight non-conference losses before dropping a close 3-2 match against Conference foe Philadelphia University. On Sep. 17th the Clippers captured their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Goldey-Beacom College. A 3-2 win over Nyack College on Sep. 28th would give Concordia a 2-5 record and match their win total from the 2010 season.
The Clippers would drop their next seven consecutive games as playing on the road for every game would begin to take its toll on the team. Concordia managed to play a couple games at nearby SUNY Purchase as a temporary solution for their unplayable field conditions. The Clippers would win a 5-2 decision over Chestnut Hill College on Oct. 23rd as they kept their chances to grab a playoff spot with the conference victory.
The chance for a post season appearance would come down to the final game of the season against Holy Family University. Concordia battled hard throughout the game but in the end fell 5-2 after three straight goals by the Tigers in a span of six minutes secured the victory.
The Clippers will look forward to a productive 2012 season which is right around the corner. Be sure to visit ConcordiaClippers.com for their schedule when it is announced in the upcoming months.
Next week women's volleyball will be the featured season wrap-up when it is released on Friday, July 6th.
