The Clippers Men's Tennis team, who finished fourth overall in the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament, were recently ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Clippers finished out their 2010 season as they raced back at the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia for the CACC Championship meet. When everyone crossed the finish line the Clippers placed 10th in their first conference meet.

The Clippers headed to Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, PA to run at the CACC Championship meet. The Clippers posted a total score of 353 and finished 13th.

Clippers finish out season with win over Georgian Court
The Clippers hosted the Georgian Court University Lions today to finish out their 2010 season. The Clippers made their presence known from the beginning as they dominated with an opening few points. The Lions struggled as the Clippers went on several service runs including ones by Hillary Hoffman and Alicia Vogel. The Clippers stayed ahead of the Lions throughout the first set and finished it off with a Juliann Gillespie kill.

Clippers Ranked 9th at End of Fall Season
The Clippers Golf team will head into the winter ranked 9th in the East Region in the final fall season NCAA Regional Poll done by Golfstat. The Clippers post an average score of 312.11 which is good for 9th in the region and 4th in the CACC behind Wilmington, Post and Goldey-Beacom.

Clippers get bitten by Cougars
The Clippers hosted the Caldwell College Cougars in a CACC match-up tonight. The Clippers started the first set well as they went back and forth for the first few points. The Cougars then took a 5-1 scoring run and took the lead. The Clippers tried to catch up and with a scoring run lead by the service run of Irina Impellitiere the Clippers tied the game up at 16-16. The Cougars then roared back at the Clippers and went on a 9-3 run to take the set.

Clippers defeated by Pacesetters
The Clippers volleyball team finished their four game road trip as they faced off at Pace University. The Clippers struggled from the beginning as they found themselves down 9-7. The Pace University Pacesetters then went on a 14-2 run to control the set. The Clippers then started to climb back but Pace took the set 25-13 before the Clippers could make any more progress.

Clippers fall in final game of season
The Clippers hosted the Wilmington University Wildcats in their final game of the 2010 season. The Wildcats went straight to the offense and starting attacking from the beginning of the game. Though the Wildcats were attacking the Clippers held strong on defense and kept them from scoring. The Clippers were able to grab a few shots but were unsuccessful. At the end of the first 45 minutes the Clippers and the Wildcats were tied at zero.

Clippers take down Griffins 3-0
The Clippers headed to Philadelphia to face off against the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. The Clippers went back and forth to open the match with the Griffins. With a couple of kills from Irina Impellitiere the Clippers broke free and took the early lead in the first set. The Griffins stayed close to the Clippers through the set but a kill from Chelsea Zurcher closed out the set for the Clippers 25-20.

The Clippers headed to face off against the Queens College Knights in non-conference volleyball action. The Clippers went to battle straight off with the Knights as they kept themselves close. The Knights made the first big break running off 10 points while the Clippers could only grab six. The Clippers dropped the first set 25-20.

The Clippers Men's Golf Team hosted their first tournament yesterday at Century Country Club in Purchase, New York. The Clippers took the tournament with a 309 team score, 16 shots over the second place finisher.

The Clippers women's tennis team faced off against non-conference opponent Pace University. The doubles were up first on court and wasting no time at all the pair of Juliana Frey and Maria Ortiz at number two doubles took the early lead. With four service breaks the pair easily took the match 8-0.

The Clippers finished out their 2010 season as they hosted the Nyack College Warriors. The Clippers went on the attack after the Warriors took a couple of shots. With the Clippers going strong on the offensive they out shot the Warriors in the first half 11-6. Even with the Clippers shooting well the Warriors came on and with 27 seconds left in the half the Warriors scored a goal to go up 1-0.

CONCORDIA LOOKS TO REPEAT IN CACC WOMEN’S TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Concordia College will be looking to repeat as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Tennis Tournament Champion when the 2010 tournament gets underway Tuesday, Oct. 19. The Clippers went 8-0 in conference play this season and will host Chestnut Hill College Tuesday at 2:00 pm. No. 2 Goldey-Beacom College and third seeded Holy Family University will meet in the other semi-final match. Concordia defeated Goldey-Beacom, 5-3, in last season’s championship.

The Clippers headed down to face off against the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning. The Clippers started off the first half as they went on the offensive. With the team pushing up to strike the Clippers were primed to score. As the Lightning were trying to halt the Clippers progress, the Clippers out shot the Lightning 13-3 in the first half. Forty-five minutes later the score remained at zero for each team.

Four members of the Clippers Tennis teams traveled down to Mobile, Alabama to compete in the 2010 ITA National Tournament. Ola Roberts and Yuliya Plevako are representing the Concordia Women's Tennis team as they compete in the doubles tournament. Roberts returns to the ITA National Doubles tournament for the second straight year. This is Plevako's first appearance. The Clippers duo qualified by winning the ITA East Regional, back in September.

Clippers fall in tight match with Bloomfield
The Clippers volleyball team headed to New Jersey to face off with the Bloomfield College Deacons for the second time this season. The Deacons took the early lead over the Clippers but the Clippers immediately turned it around and fought back to tie the game up at 10-10. The Clippers then took the lead as Olivia Thompson went back to serve. As the Deacons started to come back, the Clippers held on and were able to bring the score to 24-20. The Deacons then went on a quick six point run and stole the game out from underneath the Clippers.

As both teams went back and forth with each taking a one point lead at times it was the Chargers that broke free first and took the 16-13 lead. The Clippers hosted the Philadelphia University Rams today in CACC action. As the start of the games kicked off the Clippers took the first shot of the game. For the next thirty minutes the Rams pushed up on offense. The Clippers held storng on defense as they kept the Rams from scoring. The next few minutes of the game the Clippers were able to get onto offense and take a couple of shots including shots on goal. At the end of the first half the score remained at zero.

When Grandilli returned from the eighteen he posted a one over par 73 for the day. With the 73 Grandilli captured the individual title defated the other 29 contenders by three shots.

The Clippers headed up to Connecticut for a non-conference face-off against the Southern Connecticut State University Owls. The Clippers started off their match down 7-1 against the Owls. With a short service run from Amanda Margedant, including two aces, the Clippers cut their short deficit even shorter. The Clippers continued to move up but the Owls kept them at bay and took the first seet 25-18.

The Clippers faced off against the current number one in the CACC, Caldwell College tonight. The Cougars of Caldwell took the early lead over the Clippers. The Clippers chipped their way back into the game with the help of a couple of service aces by Amanda Margedant and one by Irina Impellitiere. The Clippers then continued to climb back and took a small lead over the Cougars 14-12. As the Clippers stayed one point ahead, the Cougars tried to find ways around. Brittany Chappas helped push the Clippers to a 21-18 lead but the Cougars struck and overtook the game to grab set one 25-22.

The Clippers hosted the Cougars of Caldwell College today in another CACC match. Adeline Brennan and Ana S.O Mendes quickly went up in their doubles match as they used deep serves to earn points. After going up 6-0 the pair dropped two games of the match. The pair finished out the match taking it 8-2.

The Clippers faced off with the Golden Falcons of Felician College. The Clippers started off the match with an eight point service run by Hillary Hoffman. The Golden Falcons started to come back but the Clippers held them at bay. As the Clippers inched closer to 25 the Golden Falcons halted them just short with the score 24 Clippers 21 Golden Falcons. The Golden Falcons then ran off a small string of tough serves and tied the game up. A few points later the Clippers saw themselves down 1-0 in the match.

The number one doubles pair of Maria Ortiz and Juliana Frey started off their match as they put pace on the ball with their shots. The Clippers hosted the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning today as they squared off on the volleyball court. With set one under way the Clippers took an early lead of 10-6 over the Lightning. As the Clippers were just one point away from the set, a few unfortunate errors came across and the Lightning tied the set up once again. With two Lightning errors the Clippers captured the first set.

The Clippers headed to Caldwell College to face off on the soccer pitch against the Cougars. The Clippers got control of the ball from the kickoff and went on the offensive. With a couple of shots from the Clippers the ball posession was then switched to the Cougars. Posession changed once again to the Clippers and 35:05 into the first half Ekene Okereke put the ball in the back of the net off of a deflected throw in from Michael Barbetto and Alessandro Persampieri.

Boldarev captures second ITA East Regional Championship in singles and doubles
The Concordia College Men's Tennis team headed down to Philadelphia this past weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Tournament. The tournament is a singles and doubles individual tournament to qualify for the ITA National Tournament held in Mobile, AL in October.

The Clippers volleyball team headed across the bridge to Rockland County to face off against the Nyack College Warriors. The Warriors went ahead quickly 10-6 as the Clippers struggled to get things moving. The Clippers men's soccer team headed down to Philadelphia to face off against the Chestnut Hill College Griffins. The Clippers were the first to take a shot on goal as Ekene Okereke knocked one but it was saved by the Griffins keeper. As the Griffins headed up the pitch, with several shots taken the Griffins broke the silence with an unassisted goal less than fifteen into the game.

Nanan saves six as Clippers drop to Chestnut Hill
The Clippers hit the pitch down in Philadelphia as they squared off against the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a CACC match-up. The Griffins took control of the ball immediately from kick-off. With the Griffins pushing up on offense the Clippers strike was minimized as they were out shot in the half 8-1. The quiet of the game was broken with less than a minute in the half as the Griffins scored their first goal.

The Clippers hosted the Philadelphia University Rams today in a CACC match-up. The Clippers started the match off slow as they found themselves quickly down 7-2 to start off set number one. As the Clippers picked up their game they started to close the gap. With small service runs from Irina Impellitiere and Hillary Hoffman the Clippers closed their deficit to 15-16. The Clippers tried to fight the Rams off but they inched closer and took the first set 25-20.

The Clippers hosted the Bloomfield College Deacons in their home opener. The Clippers kicked off their match as they went up 2-0. The Deacons kept the game close but after a 7 point service game from freshman Brittany Chappas to put the Clippers up by 16-8. As the Clippers inched closer to the end of the first set they kept their comfortable lead and with a kill from Olivia Thompson the Clippers captured the first set.

The Clippers hosted the Dominican College Chargers in a CACC contest this afternoon. The Chargers took the early lead as a headed ball found its way into the net. Less than ten minutes later another ball from the Chargers found the net for a 2-0 lead over the Clippers.

The Clippers Volleyball team headed to Molloy College to open their 2010 season. With new faces hitting the floor with the returners the opening set showed the teams nerves. A few smaller runs from the Lions and some nervous errors by the Clippers the first set finished with the Clippers down.

Clippers miss against NYIT
The Clippers headed to face off against the New York Institute of Technology Bears. As the Clippers started their match they went back into their defensive positions as the Bears attacked. Twenty one minutes into the game the Clippers were finally able to get on the offensive and take their first shots on the goal. Though none of the Clippers shots capitalized for them the score remained at zero for both teams at the end of the first half.

Just one year ago the Concordia Volleyball team suffered its worst season ever. “We couldn’t finish the year due to injury and a lack of numbers. I guarantee that won’t happen this season.” And to speak to Coach Patrick Dietz, coming into his second year as head coach of the Clippers, you would think that the team assembling this year can and could quite possibly win the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Woman’s Volleyball Championship this fall. “I’m not saying we will win it, but we’re out right better than we were last season.”

The Clippers opened their season at St. Thomas Aquinas College. A few corner kicks opened the game up from each team but it was the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas that broke open the scoring. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game.

The ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) released their 2010 All-Academic Team and Scholar-Athletes. To receive this award the scholar-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 through the year. Two Clippers earned this mark for the 2009-2010 scholastic year.
