Andrey Boldarev and Raphael Namias honored by ITA as All-Academic Scholar-Athletes
The ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) released their 2010 All-Academic Team and Scholar-Athletes. To receive this award the scholar-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 through the year. Two Clippers earned this mark for the 2009-2010 scholastic year.

With a 1-2 count and one out TJ Walsh then hit a triple to right field to score Cintorino and Sciacchitano. A single to center field by Anthony Pisano scored Walsh as the Clippers went up 3-0.

After Victoria Pisciotta was walked with two outs DeMartino came across the plate and the Clippers were on the board. The number two doubles team of Tamas Dobrotka and Andreas Lindell were off the court shortly after as they completely dominated their opponents and swept them 8-0.

Clippers gear up for long weekend of play as they take down Pace University
The Clippers went to Pleasantville, NY to face off against the Pace University Pacesetters in a non-conference match-up. Anthony Carnacchio started the game off with reaching first base on an error by the Pacesetters shortstop. With a hard hit ball back to the pitcher by David Perlleshi, Carnacchio moved into scoring position. With one out Donnie Roth was walked and the Clippers had runners on first and second. The Clippers designated hitter TJ Walsh stepped up to the plate and nailed a double to score Carnacchio and Roth. Difre Reyes reached first on a two out walk, while during his at bat Walsh reached third on a wild pitch. A double to left center by Mike Sciacchitano scored Walsh and the Clippers led 3-0 after the top of the first.

The Concordia College Clippers Men's Tennis team took on NCAA Division I opponent Fairleigh Dickinson University today. The doubles were up first on court as the Clippers were ready for the Knights. As the number one doubles team of Alex Grubin and Andrey Boldarev faced off with their opponents the match was to be a long one. Both doubles teams went back and forth with winning games. Grubin and Boldarev were able to break their opponents and gain the edge and defeated the Knight opponents 8-5.

The Clippers faced off against the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in a non-conference double header on Sunday. For the first game it was Keith Malanga who held the ball for the Clippers. Through five straight innings Malanga allowed just one hit. On the other side of the ball the Clippers struggled to get hits through the first five innings but the bats would soon wake up and start hitting.

CONCORDIA IS UNANIMOUS PICK ATOP CACC MEN’S TENNIS PRE-SEASON POLL
Concordia College is the pre-season pick to win the 2010 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis Regular-Season Championship in voting conducted by the seven conference head coaches. Concordia was a unanimous choice to claim the title, while Philadelphia University was voted second on all seven ballots. Concordia is in its first year as a member of the CACC.

The Clippers called Senior Jesse Horsham to pitch in the first game. Staying in control Horsham pitched clean through the first four innings of play, only giving up three hits.

The Clippers started their first of two games off strong as lead off hitter Dena Frederick hit a single. With another single by Jaime Lorenzo, Frederick moved to second and the Clippers had two runners on base. Lorezno and Frederick moved into scoring position after Alexa Rosella grounded out to move them. Unfortunately the Clippers couldn’t score and it was now the defenses turn to work.

The Clippers headed to the University of New Haven to face off against the Chargers in early season baseball. Jesse Horsham was called to start for the Clippers on the mound. With the Clippers unfortunately not getting anyone on base in the first inning, the Chargers of UNH were ready to and scored to take the go ahead.

Clippers find two wins in Florida over Spring Break
The Lady Clippers Softball team spent their spring break in Clermont, Florida where they played eight games facing six different opponents. The Clippers started their week with facing St. Anselm’s College. In the first three innings the Clippers charged out as they hit two home runs (Angela D’Amico – solo; Alexa Rosella – 3 run) and added four other hits to take a 6-1 lead over St. Anselm’s. The Clippers went on to score three more and sealed their season opener with a 9-2 victory. Freshman Theresa Magnani made her collegiate debut on the mound as she pitched a complete game and nabbing her first win.

Will Eason, a center, broke the CACC Single Season Record for rebounding. With the 13 rebounds from the Clippers last game of the season, at USP, will accumulated 328 rebounds and the record. During the 27 games and with the average of 12.1 rebounds a game, Will was able to break the single season record for rebounding in the CACC.

Clippers end season with win over Devils of USP
The Clippers were forced to travel to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia after the Meyer Athletic Center was knocked out of heat and power. The Clippers saw the Devils of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia take an 8-2 lead to kick off the game. The Clippers then picked up the pace and turned the game into a back and forth battle. The Clippers eventually took a solid lead with 2:45 left in the half. The Clippers hit shot after shot to move ahead of the Devils and held a nine point lead at the end of the half, 40-31.

Clippers fall in final game of season to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
The Clippers had to travel down to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia due to power and heat complications in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Clippers hit their first three shots to take a 5-0 lead to start the game off. With the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Devils shifting their game they quickly caught up. The Clippers continued to play hard as they kept the Devils from getting to far ahead of them. With keeping the Devils a short distance away the Clippers found themselves at the end of the half down only nine, 31-40.

Clippers push game to overtime but miss to Felician
The Clippers headed down to New Jersey to face off against the Felician College Golden Falcons, an opponent they haven't seen since the beginning of December. The Clippers opened their game with a five point lead over the Golden Falcons. The Golden Falcons then came on strong and took the lead away. With the Golden Falcons with the lead, the Clippers worked hard to keep them close. As the Clippers tried to get the lead back the Golden Falcons stretched their lead out to 12 points at one point in the half. With a 3-pointer from Brandon Whitaker the Clippers moved closer and were only down 30-39 at the end of the first half.

The Lady Clippers faced off against the Felician College Golden Falcons. As the Golden Falcons started their game the Clippers struggled with their own. The Golden Falcons ran the score up and were leading by 17 just nine minutes into the game. The Clippers finally finding their game, slowly but surely started their move and were able to hold off the Golden Falcons. As the Clippers held the Golden Falcons to just 11 points in the last eleven minutes of the half, they found their way to score. The Clippers closed the 17 point gap down to just 2 points by the end of the first half, 26-28.

The Clippers Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has extended its silent auction to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Memorial Slone Kettering Cancer Research Foundation. The SAAC will have a table set up in the lobby of the Meyer Athletic Center during basketball games with the auction sheets for the various items up for auction.

Clippers nail a 9-0 win over Monmouth to start spring season
The Clippers hosted their spring season opener against Division I opponent Monmouth University. The Clippers took a 2-0 to start the match off as Monmouth had to default two games. Doubles hit the court first for the Clippers. Andrey Boldarev and Alex Grubin, the #1 doubles team, showed their skills with an 8-3 victory over their opponents Laurence Heads and David Sherwood. Tamas Dobrotka and Andreas Lindell knocked their opponents, Harvey Bhalla, and Oliver Grimbly, off quickly with an 8-2 victory.

Clippers grab another win as they defeat Chestnut Hill
The Clippers hosted the Chestnut Hill College Griffins this afternoon. With a quick 6-0 lead by the Clippers the game was underway. The Clippers pushed their quick lead out as their offense found the right times to score. Moving down the court on the defensive end the Clippers worked hard to fend off the Griffins. Though the Griffins moved in to cut the Clipper's lead down they found the defense solid and struggled. With the Clippers clearly in the lead they slowed the pace of the first down. The Clippers led 29-20 over the Griffins at the end of the half.

The Clipper hosted the Chestnut Hill College Griffins for their senior day celebration game. With the Griffins playing strong from the beginning of the game the Clippers saw themselves quickly behind 17-1. With a surge of energy, the Clippers found their game and made their way back. Though the Griffins pressed the Clippers and continued to score, the Clippers were able to slow the Griffins progress and the Clippers were able to climb out of the 16 points deficit from earlier. With each Clipper adding their points the team cut their deficit down to size by the end of the first half.

The Clippers hosted the Caldwell College Cougars in another CACC battle. The Clippers jumped right into the lead as they scored quickly. As the Clippers worked hard they stretched their lead into a comfortable hold. The Cougars attempted to make their move but with good defense from the Clippers the Cougars found scoring difficult. The Clippers pushed themselves to the end and were ahead 29-20 at the end of the first half.

With the Cougars taking the early lead and the Clippers starting off rough it was sure to be a long game from the beginning for both teams. As softball is getting ready to hit the field the CACC Softball Pre-season Poll was released. The Clippers were picked 12th out of 14 teams. The Clippers will return 11 players from last years squad and adding 3 freshman. The team will kick off their season down in Clermont, Florida facing off against St. Anselm College on March 1st. The Clippers will open up their CACC season at Goldey-Beacom College on March 20th.

With baseball on the horizon the CACC Baseball Pre-season Poll was released. The Clippers, the conference newcomers, were picked 5th out the 11 teams. The Clippers will officially open their CACC season at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on March 20th.

Clippers nab 5th win in tight game with Wildcats
The Clippers headed right into battle as they faced off with the Wilmington University Wildcats. The Clippers working hard to get through the Wildcats defense found their ways to score. The Wildcats would then answer back and steal the lead away. With the first half a tight battle between the two the lead changed hands at five different points and at seven other times the game was tied. The Clippers found an edge and held a two point lead, 33-31, at the end of the first half.

The Clippers took one more journey into Delaware as they faced off against the Wilmington University Wildcats. The Clippers started the game unmatched as the Wildcats went on a 13-0 scoring run. As the Clippers eventually hit their stride as they found their opportunities to score and clawed their way back into the game. As Dana Rommel led with 11 points in the first half the Clippers cut their deficit down to just 4 points by the end of the half.

The Clippers stepped out onto the Post University court and hit the gas immediately from the gate. The Clippers went on a 9-0 scoring run over the Eagles. The Eagles eventually put a stop to the Clippers run and and found the Clippers faltering. The Clippers watched their lead go away and the Eagles taking control fo the game. As the Clippers worked to get back to where they started they could only get so close until it slipped away. The Eagles extended their lead over the Clippers as the mintues of the frist half ticked away. The Clippers were down 28-45 as they headed into intermission.

The Clippers headed North to face off against the Post University Eagles. With the Clippers taking the first meeting at home they needed to start off with a bang to take the road game. Shari Cordero gave them a good start tot he game with a made layup. The Clippers then settled in for the battle with the Eagles as the game went back and forth for awhile. Post took the lead with less than nine minutes left in the first half and kept the Clippers at bay. With three ties and seven lead changes the Clippers were trailing 27-31 to the Eagles.

Eason out rebounds and hits career high as Clippers earn 4th win of the season
The Clippers defeated the Nyack College Warriors 87-75 in the second of two regular season bouts this season. The Clippers started off with capturing the lead over the Warriors just minutes into the game. Slowly but surely the Clippers pushed themselves and scored often. With the Warriors needed to stay close kept the game interesting at times coming within one point on several occasions. The Clippers played good defense to hold off the Warriors and led 36-28 heading into intermission.

The Lady Clippers hosted the Nyack College Warriors in a CACC match-up tonight. The Warriors kicked their game off with a 6-0 run as the Clippers unfortunately struggled to score. Gaskins scores his 1,000th career point
Senior Kenneth Gaskins, a Bronx, New York native, scored his 1,000th career point in this past Tuesday’s CACC match-up with the Bloomfield College Deacons. Before the game Gaskins needed just 11 points to hit the 1,000th career point mark that so few hit.

Clippers fall to Bloomfield in tough battle
The Clippers started their second game of the season against the Bloomfield College Deacons with a 7-0 run. The Deacons stuggling to score would eventually find the basket. The Clippers stayed strong as the Deacons finally were able to score but the Deacons crept closer. As the Deacons settled in the Clippers found themselves slipping and the Deacons took their first lead of the game with 2:51 left on the clock in the first half. The Clippers continued to battle with the Deacons and were able to get back on top by the end of the half. The Clippers held the slimest of margins with a 32-31 score going into the locker room.

The Clippers scored first in their second CACC bout with the Bloomfield College Deacons. The Deacons answered back with several points shutting down the Clippes offense. As the Deacons charged ahead the Clippers fell almost stagnate for the rest of the first half. The Clippers trailed by twenty-two (39-17) as they headed into intermission.

Clippers Freshman Argelix Gil was named CACC Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 31st, 2010. Gil scored an average of 16.5 points per game in the 1-1 week for the Clippers. He shot 58.3 % from the field all while bringing down an average of 5 rebounds per game on the week.

The Clippers faced the defending CACC Champions, the Philadelphia University Rams, this afternoon. The Clippers had three big scorers on their side as they battled with the Rams. The Clippers fought hard but soon saw the Rams break away with the lead and never turned back. The Clippers trailed 24-41 heading into the locker room.

The Clippers headed into the snow to face off against the ever dangerous Philadelphia University Rams. The Clippers fighting hard in the beginning of the game were able to nab a lead over the Rams. With continued hard work from the Clippers they were able to stretch their lead out to eight with 9:27 left in the first half. The Rams turned around from that point and halted the Clippers run as they stole the lead back. The Rams pushed the Clippers into intermission holding a 38-25 over them.

The Clippers hosted the Dominican College Chargers as they both headed into battle one more time this year to finish out their season series. With the battle going back and forth from the start of the game it was an exhibition of layups. The Clippers then broke away to take the first lead of the game thanks to back to back lay-ups from Kenny Gaskins and Will Eason. The Clippers held their small lead even though the Chargers were knocking at the door. With minutes left in the half another back and forth battle ensued. After 20 clock minutes, 6 ties of the score and 3 lead changes the fight was a dead heat fo 32-32 heading into the locker room.

Cordero puts up double-double as Clippers miss against Dominican
A good jumper from Dana Rommel kicked off the Clippers game against the Dominican College Chargers. With the battle begun between the Clippers and the Chargers the game wouldn't take a break until the gym itself hosted a ten minute blackout halfway through the first half. With the lights successfully back on it would be the Chargers who took full advantage of the next few minutes of the game as they took a small three point lead. The Clippers staying on the Chargers heels continued to fight in the battle. The Chargers took another lead before the end of the half as time ran out. The Clippers trailed by five; 24-29 as they headed into intermission.

The Concordia College Clippers hosted Holy Family University this afternoon in a CACC match-up. The Clippers quickly scored and showed that the other night's win was not a fluke. The Tigers of Holy Family threatened with good shots but the Clippers stayed one step ahead. The Clippers pushed their lead out to double digits in the first half on more than one occassion but the Tigers just roared back with shots. The Clipeprs held their lead through the rest of the first half and went into intermission up four, 37-33.

The Concordia College Clippers hosted the Holy Family University Tigers this afternoon. Though the Tigers scored first the Clippers were prepared for the battle. The Concordia College Clippers headed to Caldwell College to face off against the Cougars. Still searching for their first win of the season the Clippers started on the right foot with scoring the first two baskets of the game. With a full on back and forth battle the Clippers pushed themselves harder than ever staying with the Cougars every step of the way. The Clippers and the Cougars were toe to toe as the games was tied up on seven different occassions along with five other lead changes in the half. The Cougars however held a four point lead at the end of the first half, 32-28.

The Concordia College Lady Clippers headed to Caldwell College for a CACC show down. Fresh off of a win over Post University the other night the Clippers battled hard against the Cougars of Caldwell. With the lead swapping six times throughout the first half it would be the Clippers that would eventually take the lead. The Clippers went on a 14-5 scoring run almost shutting down the Cougars to finish out the first half, 26-18.

The Concordia College Men’s Basketball team hosted the Post University Eagles tonight. The battle was on right at the beginning of the game with both teams pushing the ball quickly and scoring often. With the score flipping back and forth neither team was able to take a solid lead without the other right on their coat tails. The Clippers were the first to break free. With Argelix Gil working well on the offensive and defensive side the Clippers were able to take and hold a lead over the Eagles. The Clippers led the Eagles 37-31 at the end of the first half.

The Clippers hosted the Post University Eagles tonight in a CACC match-up. The Clippers battled at the start of the game with the Eagles. Though the game seemed a well matched game the Clippers broke away first. With the Clippers taking the lead, the Eagles in turn struggled on their offensive side. As Brittany Binnie was at the helm of the Clippers lead and pushing further away from the Eagles, the Clippers held a 16 point halftime lead; 34-18, their largest lead to date.

The Clippers Men’s Basketball team picked up their CACC schedule with a face off with the Nyack College Warriors. The Clippers battled with the Warriors during the first half of the game. With the Warriors taking leads the Clippers were able to battle back and tie the game up twice by the free throw hand of Argelix Gil. The Warriors then took the lead and stretched it to 14 points over the Clippers. With hard work, the Clippers cut that lead back down to 4 points just before the end of the first half.

The Concordia College Clippers kicked off the 2010 portion of their season facing off against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University. The Clippers starting off slow fell behind quickly as the Penmen headed off to a 10-1 lead. The Clippers attempted to strike back but the Penmen held strong. With the Penmen in the lead the Clippers relaxed and found a way to strike back. The Clippers inched their way back into the game and were able to head to the locker room trailing by just one; 35-34.

The Clippers faced off against Eckerd College early today in the University of Tampa Classic. The Clippers started off strong in the beginning of the game as they showed their strength with Lavor Morris and Will Eason scoring quickly. The Eckerd College Tritons came back and the battle began between the two. The rest of the first half was a back and forth game as the game was tied up 5 different times while the lead changed hands 9 others. The Tritons took the lead in the final minute of the half and lead over the Clippers 34-28 at the end of the first twenty minutes.

For the past month the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been teamed up with the Toys for Tots Foundation and the United States Marine Corps. As the snow falls in New York the Clippers sailed south to face off against the University of Tampa in sunny Tampa, Florida in the Tampa Classic. The Clippers started off a little cold in the first half still adjusting to the temp in the Tampa gym. The University of Tampa Spartans kicked the heat on the Clippers and took a commanding lead. With the first half closing the Spartans held their lead over the Clippers, 48-31.

The Concordia College Women’s Basketball team headed to non-conference foe Mercy College. The Lady Clippers started off strong going up 7-0 to start the game. The Mercy College Mavericks came back into the game but the Clippers didn’t let them get far. The Clippers regained their lead with the help of Shelley Monahan knocking down shots. The Mavericks pushed back and over came their deficit and attacked taking the lead by the end of the first half, 37-30.

The Clippers headed north to Albany to face off against the College of St. Rose. The Clippers matched up evenly with the College of St. Rose during the first half of game. Though there were few lead changes and ties in the first half the Clippers found themselves down by the slimmest of margins to the College of St. Rose at the half, 32-33.

The Concordia College Men’s Basketball team took a break from the conference play to face off against Pace University. Even though the Clippers started off strong in the beginning of the game scoring quickly the Pace University Pacesetters battled through and took control. The Clippers struggled with their offense in the first half, shooting only 27.3% from the field. With the Pacesetters in control the Clippers found themselves down 23-38 at the end of the first half.

The Clippers traveled to Bloomfield College today to continue their CACC bouts. The Bloomfield College Deacons showed their usual right from the start. The Clippers, who have been proving to everyone that they should not count them out, came on strong and battled it out with the Deacons through the whole game.

The Concordia College NY Men’s Basketball team traveled to face off against the Dominican College Chargers tonight. The Clippers started off strong battling with the Chargers as they went back and forth on the court. The Clippers came out on top and took their lead into the early double digits. The Chargers pushed back and tied the game up with less than eight minutes on the clock. With unfortunate luck the Clippers headed to the locker room down 39-31.

With the Clippers continuing to improve they looked to take their game to the next level as they started the game with a 7-0 scoring run. The Clippers hosted the Felician College Golden Falcons in their CACC opener tonight. With no nerves to show the Clippers scored the first two baskets. The Golden Falcons then stepped up and pushed themselves into the game. Heading up and down the court both teams were pushing themselves hard. The Golden Falcons took their lead over the Clippers and stretched it out. The Clippers tried to cut the deficit but it was too great and they headed to the locker room down 28-48 at the end of the first half.

Monahan leads Clippers in close knit game with Golden Falcons
The Lady Clippers opened up their first CACC game hosting the Felician College Golden Falcons. With the Golden Falcons taking control from the start the Clippers fell behind quickly. The Clippers, faced with being down 10-1 to start the game, turned on the after burners and shifted into the next gear fighting their way back into the game. Ten minutes into the game the Clippers were able to over turn the Golden Falcons and claim the lead as their own. From then on it was a back and forth battle between the two teams as both wanted to be on top. By the end of the half the Clippers found themselves just one point down from the Golden Falcons, 31-30.

On Tuesday, December 8th the Concordia College NY Clippers Women’s Tennis Team will be honored for their recent CACC Championship. The team will be honored during the Women’s and Men’s Basketball double header with Felician College that night. Senior Dana Rommel, a Staten Island, New York native, scored her 1,000th career point in the Lady Clippers first home game of the season. Before the game Rommel only needed 12 points to hit the illustrious mark in any basketball player’s college career. With 8 points in the first half it was just a matter of time for Rommel to knock down those other 4 points.

The Lady Clippers opened up their home season with a non-conference contest with the Bloomsburg University Huskies. The Clippers started their home stand struggling to find their groove on their home court. The Huskies jumped at the chance and took a 17-2 scoring run to open the game up. With less than ten minutes in the half the Clippers found a groove and started to climb back into the game. The Clippers worked to hold the Huskies off from scoring and to continue to fight their way back but would have to go at it in the second half as the Huskies held a 39-20 lead.

The Clippers and the Purple Knights battled with each other in the first half. Going to back and forth the Purple Knights would take small leads and the Clippers answered back and tied the game up. With a late surge the Clippers went on an 11-2 scoring run to take a nine point lead at the half.

Lincoln University, PA – Monahan hits double-double as Clippers just missed against Livingstone The Clippers faced off against the Livingstone College Blue Bears from North Carolina in the James A Richardson Tournament in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania today. The Clippers ran off the first five points of the game against the Blue Bears. The Blue Bears turned right around and tied the game up forcing a back and forth scoring run. The Blue Bears then took their largest lead of the half going up 23-17 with 12 minutes left in the half. The Clippers worked hard to cut the deficit down and with a couple of free throws, a jump shot and a three-pointer the game was ties with less than 8 minutes left in the half. The Clippers then took the momentum and nailed a seven point lead minutes later. With the Blue Bears and the Clippers going back and forth tying the game up six times and forcing seven lead changes the first half would be a dead heat at 43-43.

Lincoln University, PA– Rommel leads with 20 in season opener as Clippers just miss to Lincoln The Clippers opened their season up down at the James A Richardson Tournament in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania. The Clippers first opponent would be the host school of Lincoln University. With a few nerves to get over in the first minute of their season opener the Clippers hit their mark first. The Lincoln University Lions showed their mark next. With each team taking their shots the back and forth battle begun. The Lions took the first small lead of five over the Clippers six minutes into the game. After a few minutes of battling Kayla Koch hit a three pointer to tie the game. The Clippers were able to build on their momentum in the next couple of minutes as they went on a 7-0 scoring run with the help of Shelley Monahan (4 points in the run) and Kasey Grisanti (2 points in scoring run). The Lions came roaring back and by the end of the half had tied the game up, 24-24.

Bronxville, NY – Seasoned veterans and inspiring newcomers look to make impact in Clippers CACC inaugural season. The 2009-2010 Concordia College Clippers will launch a new coach, ten new players and a new attitude as they look to “Build Tradition” within the programs new conference, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). It was an active off-season for the Clippers who promoted Joan Sanchez from Assistant Coach to Head Coach over the summer. Coach Sanchez’ first order of business was to solidify his coaching staff. He didn’t have to go far in his coaching roots to find John Paul Ballesteros. Having working several basketball camps together, Coach Ballesteros understands the key to the programs success and will provide an experienced voice on Coach Sanchez’ bench.

Clippers Women’s Tennis Ranked #2 in the East Region
Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College Women’s Tennis team was recently ranked second in the East Region and 33rd in the ITA/NCAA Division II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). This ranking is up eight spots since May. The Clippers finished the fall season with a record of 13-1 overall and an 8-0 record in their new conference, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Clippers only loss came from Queens College, who took the top slot in the region.

Belgrave, a freshman from Trinidad, has started in all 14 games played this season with the Clippers. Mainly in a defender’s role, Belgrave has also showed her talent in the midfield for the team. This season Belgrave was able to score two goals and add an assist as she started her collegiate resume.

Mobile, AL – Boldarev and Grubin claim ITA National Title Andrey Boldarev and Alex Grubin headed to the ITA National Championship after winning on the first two days of competition. With the pair playing well together they would continue to be an unstoppable force. The pair took on the #2 seeded Francis Marion doubles team. With the first set staying on serve the tie break would determine who would take the lead. Boldarev and Grubin came out on top with winning the tie break and first set 7-6. With the edge to the Clippers the pair was able to break their opponent not once but twice in the second set. Boldarev and Grubin defeated their opponent in straight sets 7-6; 6-2 to claim the ITA National Doubles Division II Title.

The Devils took the early lead but thanks to the serving of Chelsea Zurcher the Clippers took the lead back. The set was then a back and forth battle with each team taking their leads and then losing them. The Devils were looking at set one with a five point lead but the serving talents of Dana St. Cyr were able to come back and take a one point lead over the Devils. Both teams worked hard and match pushed on. The Devils were able to get a kill to take set one 34-32.

Mobile, AL – Boldarev, Grubin, Roberts and Oliveira represent at ITA Nationals Four members of the Clippers tennis teams traveled down to Mobile, Alabama for the weekend to compete in the ITA National Tournament. Ola Roberts and Cristina Oliveira are representing the Clippers Women’s Tennis team as they compete in the doubles tournament. Roberts and Oliveira won the ITA Regional Bracket ‘A’ back in September. Andrey Boldarev and Alex Grubin are representing the Clippers Men’s Tennis team as they compete in the doubles tournament and Boldarev in the singles. Grubin and Boldarev took the ITA Regional Bracket ‘A’ Doubles competition while Boldarev won the ITA Regional Bracket ‘A’ Singles tournament.

Mobile, AL – Clippers make it through to last day of ITA Nationals The four member of the Clippers tennis teams competed in day two of the ITA National Tournament. Cristina Oliveira and Ola Roberts competed in the doubles tournament for 5th place today. With winning their second of two matches yesterday the pair was ready for competition again today. With a late withdraw from Lynn doubles pair, Oliveira and Roberts won the match by forfeit and took 5th place in the tournament.

Nyack, NY – Clippers drop to Warriors in close game. The Clippers men’s soccer team traveled to Nyack College today. The Clippers started the game on defense. The Warriors of Nyack saw an opening in the first few minutes of the game and scored. From that point on the Clippers were able to contain the Warriors from scoring again. The Clippers attempted to get on offense but were unfortunately halted as the Warriors out shot the Clippers in the first half 11 to 4. With the Warriors stagnate on offense the Clippers were only down by one at the half.

Bronx, NY – Clippers sail into CACC Finals with a 5-0 victory over Philadelphia University The Clippers women’s tennis team faced off in the CACC team tournament for the first time. The #1 seeded Clippers hosted the #4 Philadelphia University Rams in the semifinals. With the doubles out on the courts first the Clippers looked to sail to the early lead. The doubles team of Ola Roberts and Cristina Oliveira dominated their opponents, Daniela Rodriguez and Brittany Villa (Phila. Univ.) at the #1 doubles slot with an 8-0 victory. Yuliya Plevako and Maria Ortiz, at #2 doubles were right behind as they defeated Stephanie Miller and Laura Beaver (Phila. Univ.) with the easy 8-1 win. Adeline Brennan and Camilla Xavier completed the doubles sweep at #3 singles with an 8-2 win over Sarah Harris and Christina Brzozoski (Phila. Univ.).

With Dominican taking the first match-up the Clippers looked to even it out. With the first set, the Clippers tried to work back but the Chargers would not let the Clippers attack hit the floor. The Clippers dropped the first set 25-14.

Long Island, NY – Alex Grubin and Andreas Lindell win singles tournaments at Stony Brook Invitational The Clippers men’s tennis team participated in the Stony Brook Invitational over the weekend. The Clippers had two doubles teams in flight A and one doubles team in flight B the tournament. Tamas Dobrokta and Andreas Lindell unfortunately fell in the first round of the Flight B bracket 8-4. Raphael Namias and partner Felix Missal were successful in their first round with an 8-1 win and then in the quarterfinals with an 8-6 victory. Namias and Missal were unfortunately stopped in the semifinals. Alex Grubin and Andrey Boldarev defeated their first round 8-5 and then went 8-5 again to place them in the semifinal round. Grubin and Boldarev just missed out on the finals as they lost to the Flight A winners in a tiebreak.

Women’s Tennis Earns CACC Player of the Week Honors For the Fourth Straight Week
Bronxville, NY – Cristina Oliveira earns CACC Player of the Week for the third time Cristina Oliveira, a senior from Port Allegre, Brazil, earned Player of the Week from the CACC for the second straight and third time this season. Oliveira continued her undefeated stance in singles as she defeated the #1 singles player from NCAA Division I Fordham University and old rival Queens College this past week. Oliveira will compete in the CACC Semifinals against Philadelphia then head down to Alabama with doubles partner Ola Roberts for the ITA Nationals.

Newark, NJ – Clippers Men’s Cross Country runs hard at Highlander Invitational The Clipper Men’s Cross Country team ran at the Highlander Invitational in Newark, New Jersey. The Clippers were led by Karim Belhadj with an 8k time of 37:42.22. Samuel Bastista was right behind with a time of 37:48.97. Brandon Whittaker followed next for the Clippers with a time of 38:36.76. Close behind Whittaker Michael Valdovinos was next in with an 8k time of 39:12.59. William Deitte finished out the Clippers line-up with a time of 41:30.60.

NEW HAVEN, CT (October 9, 2009) – Conference newcomer Concordia (N.Y.) College has garnered the top seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s tennis team tournament. The Clippers enter the tournament with an undefeated record (10-0, 8-0 CACC) in their first season as a member of the CACC. Goldey-Beacom College has secured the No. 2 seed and, along with Concordia, will host a first-round match on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Waterbury, CT – Clippers fall to Post in tough night time game The Clippers headed north to Waterbury, Connecticut as they faced off against the Post University Eagles. The Clippers headed onto the field to work but soon found out that they were matched-up with a tough Eagles team. The first half saw the Post Eagles go aggressive as they stayed on offense. The Clippers unable to get many shots off fought hard to keep the Eagles from scoring. Guilherme Ferreira worked his magic in goal as he was able to save four in the first half. With the score at zero both teams headed into halftime.

A positive start for the Clippers saw a clean sweep of wins in singles competition. Bronx, NY – Clippers place 4th in Women’s Cross Country The Clippers women’s cross country team placed 4th in the Stevens Tech Invitational yesterday. Kelly Moran led the Clippers with a 6k run of 24:50.96, which was good for 23rd position. Emily Ringelberg was next in for the Clippers in 26th place with a 26:05.08 run. Liz Garcia came in 39th position with a 6k of 29:29.53. Cristhal Carrero and Thania Castaneda rounded out the Clippers run with 31:02.30 and 32:51.97 times respectively.

Heredia scores two for the Clippers as they win first game of the season
The Clippers Men’s Soccer team hosted Caldwell College today in a CACC match-up. The Cougars of Caldwell College quickly scored in less than two minutes into the game giving them the early lead. The Clippers wouldn’t stay down for long. Alessandro Persampieri got a through ball from Marcin Jaworek and punched it in for his third goal of the season and to tie the game up. Minutes later another through ball, this time from Rafael Espinoza to Ulyses Salceda was chipped in and the Clippers took their first lead of the game. Caldwell scored to tie the game a few minutes later but the Clippers offense was not done. A pass from Jorge Bronoquis to Rich Heredia gave the Clippers the 3-2 lead.

Six members competed in the singles tournament with three of them being seeded. With the weekend long tournament underway, the Clippers started their dominating presence on the court. Alex Grubin (1), Andrey Boldarev (3), Tamas Dobrotka (5), Rafael Namias, Andreas Lindell and Felix Misall moved onto the 2nd round easily, defeating their opponents in two quick sets.

Lakewood, NJ – Clippers upset preseason poll number one Georgian Court The Clippers headed to Georgian Court University for the CACC match-up. The Lions of Georgian Court were the first to score first as less than ten minutes clicked off the clock. The Clippers turned the game around for themselves and within ten minutes of the Lions goal Jullian Talbert had knocked in two goals of her own to have the Clippers take a 2-1 lead. Talbert’s first goal came from Susan Valencia off of a breakaway and the second one was a knock from Kareena Seaton.

Bronxville, NY – Coach Pennetti, the head men’s soccer coach for Concordia College (NY), hosted two free soccer clinics for kids ages 4 through 10. The first of the two were for the youngest member to the soccer world, ages 4 to 6. The later was for those a little more experienced, ages 7 to 10.

Caldwell, NJ – Clippers take charge of Caldwell College 9-0 The Clippers Women’s Tennis team headed down to Caldwell College for a CACC match-up. With the Clippers still on fire after yesterday’s win over Georgian Court they quickly took charge of Caldwell on the court. The Clippers #1 doubles Ola Roberts and Christina Oliveira dominated their opponents 8-1 while #2 doubles team Camilla Xavier and Adeline Brennan defeated their opponents 8-2.

The 2009 Concordia College-NY women’s soccer team continues its rebuilding mission as it takes to the field under third-year head coach Patrick Horne. The new-look Clippers are sporting five very talented recruits, including four freshmen from area schools and a sophomore transfer from NCAA Division I Youngstown State University (Ohio), who will work well with the returnees to reflect a Clipper program that is moving in the right direction.

The first half of the game the Clippers went out on the field and found themselves evenly matched against Mercy College. With each team having their chances neither could capitalize on their shots and at the end of the half the score remained at zero.

Molloy took control of the game right away as they scored fifteen minutes into the game. The Clippers attempted to fight back offensively but remained on the defensive side for the rest of the first half. At the end of the half the Clippers found themselves down 2-0.

NEW HAVEN, CT - Concordia (N.Y) College, which is beginning its first season as a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), has been chosen first according to the 2009 CACC Women's Tennis preseason poll. The Clippers were followed in the poll by last year's CACC Champion, Philadelphia University, and Holy Family University. The Tigers earned one first-place nod. The nine conference head coaches conducted the voting.

POST PICKED FIRST IN CACC MEN’S SOCCER PRESEASON POLL
NEW HAVEN, CT – If the preseason poll is any indication, the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Soccer season should be as competitive as ever. Five teams received at least one first-place nod in the poll, and the No. 3 through No. 6 spots were separated by only 10 votes. The poll was voted upon by the 12 CACC head coaches. Post University, the defending CACC Champion, was chosen first with 129 points. Dominican College was next with 117 votes, while Wilmington University (109), Philadelphia University (103) and Bloomfield College (102) round out the top five.

GEORGIAN COURT AND PHILADELPHIA TIE ATOP 2009 CACC WOMEN’S SOCCER PRESEASON POLL
NEW HAVEN, CT – After battling for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women’s soccer championship last season, Georgian Court University and Philadelphia University tied for the top spot in the 2009 preseason poll. Both garnered 160 points to top the poll, which was voted upon by the 13 CACC head coaches. The Lady Rams picked up seven of the 13 first place votes, while the Lions received the remaining six.
