Men's & Women's Cross-Country teams up with Special Olympics
The Concordia College Cross-Country teams are not only involved at Concordia, but involved in the Community. At the end of September both the men's and the women's cross-country teams worked with the Special Olympics at Bronxville High School.
The Cross-Country Clippers were able to train and work with the Special Olympics team at Bronxville High School. All of the member of both Clipper teams were involved. Some of the Clippers were able to run with the kids, others were able to dance and walk the track. As our last event we played a game called "Keep It Up." In order to play this game, you have to stand in a big circle with everyone. One person goes in the middle of the circle to keep the game alive. It was a great experience for everyone!
"For this being my first experience to work with a Special Olympic Team, I have to say it has been a great experience and I would like to volunteer my time again and recommend that everyone do the same!. I was able to go in the middle of the circle for 'Keep It Up'. The faces of every team member was a happy face. It made me feel good inside and make me want to put my time in more to help others," states freshman runner James Ebersole.
As a member of the Clippers Cross-Country team, I believe helping in the Special Olympics helps the community. It lets people who don't go to Concordia see that we are a a friendly and caring people. It will make the high school kids see how much fun it is to be a Concordia Student as we help their friends. As the community sees how much we students care, it will make everyone want to be involved!
